Emerson Meets SMARTBoard Campaign Goal!
To Emerson parents, students, teachers and staff,
Congratulations! The entire Emerson Community should be extremely proud of accomplishing our goal of raising enough funds to purchase 23 SMARTBoards for our school. In fact, we collectively raised more than $28,000, with additional corporate match money yet to come, making this the most successful fundraising effort ever undertaken at Emerson. It was great to see our teachers, staff, parents and students working together to make the goal of placing a SMARTBoard in every classroom a reality. The Emerson Social Committee wishes to extend our gratitude to everyone not only for your generosity, but also for whole-heartedly embracing the SMARTBoard Campaign.
While fundraising for SMARTBoards has now come to an end, the benefits to our students and teachers are just beginning. There are unlimited educational opportunities and resources made available through this technology, which has been proven to engage students and boost academic performance. To make the most of our SMARTBoards, many of our teachers began training this past summer and SmartTech is providing in-depth, on-site instruction for our staff. Additionally, ongoing education is available through several channels, including a DuPage User Group and periodic workshop meetings.
We will provide further progress updates at the January 2012 PTA meeting and begin discussions regarding allocation of any surplus funds, which will be determined after all costs for the 23 SMARTBoards are finalized. We hope you will share your ideas then or feel free to speak with Beth Gregor prior.
We again wish to thank you for your participation in, and support of, all the SMARTBoard events, from eating ice cream to wearing hats to throwing pies (or taking one in the face) to chewing gum to Mom’s Night Out to joining in ‘A Night at the Races’. We know it was a lot to ask, but your collective contributions, both big and little, have made the Emerson SMARTBoard Campaign a fantastic success!
